  • How perfect to be creating among the beautiful flowers on the farm! The marriage of seed, to bloom, to the fibre used in Broom Craft and working with the gorgeous dried flowers grown at Perennial Petals, well it just makes sense! We feel elation and joy among flowers, and to be crafting functional art among them will be a joyful time indeed! Brooms have been connected to the home since humans began to clean and clear their abodes. There are deities connected to them across very nearly all cultures. The making of brooms, and besoms, whisks and switches, have been ingrained into our history here on Turtle Island since the moment our ancestors stepped foot on its soil. In this hands on crafting workshop, over 4 hours, you will learn the art of making a set of 4 kitchen tools (cake tester, pot scrubber, counter whisk and a root veggie scrubber) and a Floral Round Hand Broom. We will discuss some of the history of broom making in Canada as well as learn about broom corn grown on the farm. We also can talk about the language of flower and their meanings, and how we can incorporate them in our hand brooms. All supplies are included for you to craft your brooms. If you have special charms you would like to add, please bring those along.: At the end of the afternoon, we will have made 5 brooms, EACH! Minimum 6, maximum 10. No refunds unless the workshop is cancelled. cost $160 + HST
